In 2002 I was approached by Tim Welbourne of Stoke Damerel Community College and asked if I could create silk panels for the main entrance foyer of the school. It was anticipated that these would serve as a welcome to visitors to the school, and, in visual form, convey the way that pupils and staff felt about their lively and successful school. It was hoped that I could include in these images some of the values and goals which were expressed in the school's mission statement.

In 2003 I was asked to return for a second project which would celebrate the school's recently acquired status with IT, Mathematics and Science Excellence.

This time I was to create silk panels to fit the large windows on the main staircase. These panels would effectively work as 'stained glass' windows, being visible in daytime as light streamed throught them onto the stairs, but also visible at night from the outside, as the lights inside illuminated them.

The subject matter for these works was human interaction with modern technologies, information systems, science and maths.
